On RAW (or Blah) 12/9/14

Well, you know. It was the Slammies and all, and there’s nothing like an awards show to dampen my writerly spirits. Plus, I’m a little behind still — I need to listen to the Vince McMahon podcast, but I first need to dig up my password so I can renew my subscription to then network, which recently expired. I almost don’t want to, considering how much I hate looking up passwords, as well as the lameness of it all. I don’t want to be like one of those uber-smarks who is always bemoaning the state of affairs with the current product and pining for Japan or yesteryear — all I’m saying is I’m reaching another one of those points where I could get bored and lose track of wrestling.

Fear not, though — it will pass. The rest of my family is still feeling pretty avid about our wrestling habit, so I’ll keep following it. And it will be primarily WWE and NXT, most likely, because what would my four year old daughter do without her Tyler Breeze fix, for example? I would like to reduce our WWE intake like I cut us way back on the high fructose corn syrup, filling the void with some healthy hearty Lucha Underground or something, but our household is just not that evolved yet. So for now, we consume the presently mediocre product and I continue to grumble about it.

In the end, I did tweet a few odd things about the Slammy RAW during the times that I paid attention. Here are the highlights, tidied up and expanded:

Seth Rollins might have my favorite entrance right now. Intense presence, great music, and J&J Security is such a nice touch. They are truly a team of mall cops, good call by one of the announcers. Seth Rollins is also really artful with the things douchebags say: “How do you like me now, John! That’s what I’m talking about!”

The Big Show/Cena match had a certain vaudeville flair about it. And John Cena went for a sleeper! How very classic of him!

I don’t really know what Fandango is up to these days, like he’s so sexed up he can hardly talk. But I totally support it.

And finally, I think this is an important question we should all be asking ourselves: Can there be any redemption for Ryback?
